Welcome to Mrs. Darling's 6th grade class! I'm currently getting ready for next year. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Keep reading and quiz your multiplication facts. Keep those brains sharp!

Did you know that 6th grade is the start of Middle School Curriculum?! That's right, you are now a middle schooler (housed in an elementary school).

Math - We start out with a refresher. You should come into the 6th grade knowing your math facts, how to do basic operations (+,-, x & ÷), long division, fractions (+ & -)

Language - Read. Everyday. 20 minutes. Record those minutes in your planner. I will check them every morning. Our first novel is a fantasy, Peter and the Starcathers, Book report to be announced.

Writing - We use the program Utah Compose (www.utahcompose.com). We will start with the writing process, and move into a personal narrative. We work hard to be better writers.

Social Studies - We use studies weekly (www.studiesweekly.com) to study world history. We also learn to read deeply in answering questions by referencing back to our text.

Geography:

Students will be issued a user name to study and test on world geography. http://lizardpoint.com/geography/index.php
